Amazon
E-commerce giant Amazon continued to lead the charge by introducing "Amelia," a GenAI tool that assists third-party sellers in resolving several problems, including account problems and sales and inventory data. Users can access Amelia via Seller Central.
Additionally, the solution is available to select American users (in beta) with broader access later this year. In related news, Amazon launched AI-powered video ads and content-generation listings

OpenAI
At the T-Mobile Capital Markets Day event, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman continued to expand on the features of its newly released models. Strangely, Altman unveiled "level 3" capabilities, referred to in industry parlance as "Agentic systems", which can solve highly complex problems and lead to innovation.
Furthermore, Altman iterated that the new model series could take things to the next level rather than token by token, as with the current GPT models.
YoutTube/Google DeepMind
On September 18, Google's ecosystem revealed several new integrations between DeepMind, its AI unit, and the popular YouTube Shorts. The deployments combine DeepMind's video generation capabilities with created content.
Moreover, creators can use "Veo" to add backgrounds to their short videos. They can also use written prompts to create six-second clips.
Industry Dive
NVIDIA/G42
Chipmaker NVIDIA shook the industry up with "AI Aerial," its product that transforms cellular networks into smart ecosystems. The innovation will (expectedly) pave the way for improved enhancements across several sectors, including 5G and e-commerce.
Similarly, NVIDIA partnered with Abu Dhabi, UAE-based AI firm G42 to create a climate technology lab.
Alibaba
On the other side of the world, in China, e-commerce behemoth Alibaba took the AI geopolitical spat to the next level with 100 new open-source models. The "Qwen 2.5" upgrades have several uses, ranging from gaming to academic research.
Additionally, the models have advanced math and coding capabilities. Alibaba also launched a video generation tool that compares favorably with OpenAI's Sora.
ByteDance/Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM)
Following AI chip sanctions issued to Chinese firms, TikTok owner ByteDance unveiled a new partnership with TSM to produce two internally designed chips. One chip is for AI reasoning, while the other is for data training.
Moreover, the chips are still in the design phase, and mass production will begin within one year.
Everything Else
Lionsgate/Runway
The entertainment industry's fascination with AI continued with a partnership between Hollywood's favorite Lionsgate and AI firm Runway. Consequently, the collaboration involves Runway's access to Lionsgate's archive and subsequent data training.
Plans for using AI tech are also included. However, how AI solutions will feature in future Lionsgate films remains uncharted territory.
Coursera
In a September 17 blog post, popular education platform and Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) provider Coursera revealed several AI-focused certificate programs. The upgrades include partnerships with several tech giants and specializations.
Furthermore, several courses have embedded AI introduction lessons.
United Nations
On September 19, a UN AI advisory panel published its final report to address industry governance gaps and risks. The move follows its constitution last year.
Consequently, the thirty-nine-member advisory body called for a panel to publish neutral scientific information and data. The proposed panel will also coordinate information between industry leaders and everyone else.
Following the Money
BlackRock/Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP)/Microsoft/MGX
On September 17, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), Microsoft, and MGX launched the "Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership (GAIIP)," an alliance that will build new data centers and related infrastructure. GAIIP aims to locate these data centers in America and partner countries.
Furthermore, the collaboration will (expectedly) raise $30 billion in private equity and $100 billion (in total) from other sources, including debt financing.
Google.org
Via its AI Opportunity Fund, Google.org revealed over $25 million in funding to support educators and students in AI upskilling. The initiative will train 500,000 educators and students in basic AI skills across the United States.
Mars
Beyond its candy-making operations, Mars unveiled digitization upgrade plans for its pet food unit. The $1 billion three-year plan includes adding AI elements to its ecosystem alongside third-party vendor training and other inclusions.
