The Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) 2024 hit several home runs on the AI front.
The iPhone maker introduced a slew of AI integrations with its Apple Intelligence framework, delivering AI solutions in just about everything within the Apple ecosystem.
Ubiquitously, OpenAI's ChatGPT is (now) available on iPhones and the iOS 18. Siri is also part of the new upgrades. Siri can do much more, including message and email interactions and calendar bookings.
Elon Musk/Tesla/xAI/Teamsters Pension Fund/The Cleveland Bakers
Elon Musk's new venture, xAI, was noticed by Tesla shareholders, and a new lawsuit is coming from them.
According to a new lawsuit filed by the Teamsters Pension Fund, the Cleveland Bakers, and two other unnamed shareholders, Musk is poaching talent and other resources to build xAI. Additionally, the shareholder accused Musk of violating Tesla's code of ethics by launching the new company.
Open AI
Developers have options with the beta release of the first .NET library from Open AI. The library fully integrates with Open AI's API and with GPT-4o, the latest iteration of the leading LLM. Additionally, developers can build personalized libraries on top of it, enabling increased functionality and flexibility.
Industry Dive
Microsoft-owned professional networking platform LinkedIn has added several AI features to its ecosystem. This time, AI coaches are improving learning outcomes alongside human instructors. The new feature allows users to ask questions via text prompts and get answers.
The new personalized learning feature includes leading LinkedIn learning experts, including Lisa Gates, Alicia Reece, Dr. Gemma Leigh Roberts, and Anil Gupta.
The State of Colorado
A group of insurance industry experts in the State of Colorado is set to answer questions regarding the upcoming implementation of an anti-discrimination law passed in 2021. Under the law, insurers may have to guess the policyholder's race based on other metrics rather than direct information or algorithms.
Luma AI
Content generators have a new text-to-video model, which Luma AI introduced. Dream Machine can generate up to five seconds of videos from text prompts.
Additionally, the model can integrate several scene styles, including cinematic, realistic, animation, and more.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK)
Interestingly, across the pond in the UK, voters in Brighton could vote for AI Steve, an AI candidate built by South English businessman Steve Endacott.
The automated candidate is contesting on the platform of the SmarterUK political party, founded by Endacott.
Additionally, if AI Steve wins, he will vote in legislative sessions based on feedback from constituents.
NewYork-Presbyterian/Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK)/The New York Genome Center (NYGC)
Researchers in New York devised a new AI-powered blood test that detects tumor DNA (way) ahead of time.
According to a study by scientists at the New York Genome Center (NYGC), Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and NewYork-Presbyterian, the new method (MRD-EDGE) (was) highly effective in detecting tumor DNA for breast, colorectal and lung cancers.
Additionally, MRD-EDGE detected recurrence cases years ahead of regular detection methods.
Movano, Inc.
Similarly, boutique Healtech Movano announced the addition of deep learning to the AI solution powering the Evie Ring, its premier heart-monitoring device.
Consequently, the upgraded algorithm was able to filter out motion and improve detection accuracy.
Following the Money
Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS)
AI startups got a boost with an announcement from AWS. According to a June 13 press release, the e-commerce behemoth will provide startups with all kinds of goodies (worth $230 million), including credits (worth #$1 million), mentorship, and expertise.
Furthermore, members of the AWS Generative AI Accelerator (will) have access to pitching opportunities at the Amazon "re:Invent 2024" event in Las Vegas from December 2 to 6. Applications are open until July 19.
AlphaSense
New York-based AlphaSense hit it big, raising $650 million in funding. BDT & MSD Partners led the fundraising round alongside Viking Global Investors and new investors J.P. Morgan Growth Equity Partners, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Alkeon Capital, Blue Owl and others.
AlphaSense is (now) valued at $4 billion.
Mistral AI
We move across the pond to Paris, France, where Open AI rival Mistral AI (successfully) raised 468 million in an equity funding round. DST Global and General Catalyst led the round.
Mistral AI is (now) valued at €5.8 billion.
